When packing for your holiday, there are a few not-so-typical items that people do not always think of or consider, but should definitely be on your checklist when preparing to go away.

Safety should be taken into account at all times, especially when you are away from home.

Adding a few extra items to your travel checklist will ensure you and your travel companions are prepared for a first aid incident if one were to arise.

Be Prepared

Accidents can happen at any time and in any place. It is important to prepare for this by being equipped with items that will allow you to provide effective treatment and relief in an emergency. As well as ensuring you are prepared by having your passport, sunglasses and holiday clothes, you can also prepare for emergencies by ensuring you also pack the following items:

  1. Sun cream
  2. Aloe Vera Gel
  3. Hay fever medicine
  4. Plasters
  5. Insect repellent
  6. Tweezers
  7. Skin rash cream
  8. Bandages

Sun cream is important whenever you go away and any other time that your skin will be exposed to the sun’s rays for a long period of time. Even if you think you do not need it, it is important to take the preventative measures to avoid sunstroke. Find out more about how you can Stay Safe in the Sun.

Aloe Vera gel or after sun lotion is also important to ease the pain and soothe skin if you were to experience sunburn and skin rash cream will also be useful for easing the itch and soothing the skin as a result of the heat.

If you suffer from hay fever, you are likely to bring medication with you everywhere you go. Therefore, travelling on holiday should be no different as some people experience worsened symptoms when they go abroad.

Plasters, bandages and tweezers are essential items for any first aid kit as blisters, paper cuts and grazes can occur at any time, so it is important to be equipped with the necessary supplies to tackle anything that comes up.

Time to Shine

As you get ready for the sunshine, you will want to ensure you dazzle and not frazzle!

Other items you may want to consider taking are rehydration sachets, mosquito nets, treatment for insect bites and painkillers.

Most of all, while it is important to be cautious about what could happen abroad, you should also take the time to relax and enjoy your holiday.

Travel Safe

Of course, when you are planning to go away you do not always think about accidents and emergencies that could happen. Therefore, safety and essential first aid items often get overlooked. It is always better to be safe than sorry.

By taking a travel first aid kit abroad, you will hopefully not have to use it. However, it will provide you with the peace of mind that if something were to happen, you will be equipped with necessary first aid supplies.
