Most fires that start are accidental, but the effects can be devastating. Approximately 80% of businesses that have had a serious fire are likely to go out of business within three years.

By knowing what can be done to reduce the chances of a fire starting, you will be able to take the necessary precautions that will avoid fires starting as a result of careless actions.

Therefore, it is essential for everyone to have at least some fire safety knowledge in order to prevent a fire from starting within the workplace and homes.

Appropriate Training

It is essential that every workplace has someone that is trained in fire safety in order to control the safe evacuation of all employees in the event of a fire.

There is no telling how quickly a fire could spread and what direction it could go in. For this reason, every second counts and it is important to have someone that is trained in fire safety practices.

As a business owner, it is your responsibility to make sure a trained fire marshal is always on the premises and on hand in the event of a fire.

There are approximately 260 fatalities each year as a result of fires in the UK. Our TQUK Level 1 Award in Principles of Fire Safety Awareness (RQF) will give learners the understanding of the safety procedures to take in the event of a fire.

Evacuation Chair Training is also essential as for safety reasons, lifts are out of bounds during the evacuation procedure. An evacuation chair is needed so that that businesses can make special arrangements for an employee with mobility needs. This is the duty of the employer to also ensure that there are members of staff that are trained in the use of an evacuation chair.

Fire Smart

Remember to always be cautious as objects and items we use in our day to day life can be seen as a potential fire hazard. Double check to make sure you have switched off any electrical objects or appliances and ensuring you remember to blow candles out as well as putting cigarettes out as these are all common causes of fires across the UK.
