Survival Squad, Blog
February is National Heart Month and who better to bring it to you from imperative training than our trusty Survival Squad.
After returning and getting back to work in January, they’ve been preparing to raise awareness for National Heart Month and have even come up with their very own focuses for February, which they’ll be sharing to inspire you throughout the month.
We can bet what you’re thinking; a whole month for your heart seems like an awful lot, right? Well, that’s where you’re wrong. If our Squad was to share every single thing fact or heart healthy tip for your ticker, they’d need a lot more than just one month.
National Heart Month is celebrated every February by the British Heart Foundation and the American Heart Association.
Many people are unaware, but coronary heart disease (CHD) is responsible in excess of 73,000 deaths in the UK, with 1 in 6 men and 1 in 10 women falling victim to CHD.
What to Do
Keeping your heart healthy, no matter what your age is one of the most important precautions you can take to help prevent and/ or manage heart disease.
A few ways you can look after your heart are:
- Start exercising
- Cut down on the saturated fats
- Reduce your alcohol consumption
By implementing these small changes can help you in achieving a healthier lifestyle which would ultimately lead to a healthier heart.
Keep Your Eyes Peeled
Over the course of National Heart Month, the Survival Squad are going to be revealing their personal goals and missions for the month. Each member has set aside a goal or two in which they aim to raise awareness on, for your benefit.
Pulse, the super-cool pink cat from distant planet outer space, has volunteered himself to go first, and he can’t wait to share with you what he has planned for February.
After Pulse, you can look forward to Hartley’s goals, Kitt’s wishes and Joules’s missions so be sure to keep an eye on our blog for their input over the course of February.
National Heart Month only comes round once a year and aims to spread awareness on the issues with CHD and the required changes in order to put you on the path to a healthier than ever heart.
You already know our Survival Squad are going to get involved with National Heart Month, but what about you? Are you going to join in with National Heart Month? You could be taking the very first step to a healthier and happier you! That doesn’t sound half bad to us.
