As one of the UK’s leading First Aid training providers, Imperative understands the need for every person to have the skills to save a life if called upon.

 

That’s why we hold free monthly courses in our local community to educate people in basic Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) and use of an Automated External Defibrillator (AED). 

 

These courses, held at the Hamilton Davies Trust in Cadishead, are open to everyone in the local area and are conducted by one of Imperative’s experienced trainers.

A dad who performed Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) after a man drowned on the beach is stressing the importance of CPR knowledge.

 

Steven Calder was enjoying a walk on Crosby Beach, Merseyside in July 2021 when five young men were pulled from the sea after getting into difficulty in the water. Steven, who previously worked as a lifeguard, immediately recognised two of the men were in severe danger.

The International Labour Organisation introduced World Day for Safety and Health at Work in 2003 to promote workplace safety and reduce the number of work-related deaths and injuries.

 

This is particularly vital in professions with more obvious dangers, but accidents can happen to anyone.

The need for competent and confident first-aiders in the workplace has become increasingly accepted in recent years.


Legislation such as the The Health and Safety (First-Aid) Regulations 1981 states that every employer in the UK needs to take steps to ensure the safety of their employees. This can include keeping a fully-stocked first aid kit on premises or having at least one trained first-aider
