First Aid

Overview

We’ve designed this course to provide learners with life-saving first aid skills which can help to reduce implications of injuries or even save a life.

It is important to have at least one member of staff within the workplace appointed as an official first aider, this is to ensure there is always someone on site to administer first aid in an emergency situation; having a member of staff trained also meets the needs of those supporting a qualified First Aid at Work (FAW) practitioner.

This course also embodies the requirements needed should you need to take part in a FAW annual refresher.

Candidates on this course will learn;

  • How to deal with an unconscious casualty (including seizures)
  • Dealing with an unconscious casualty who is not breathing normally (cardiopulmonary resuscitation)
  • How to treat shock
  • Treating a severe bleed
  • The correct procedure to help a casualty choking
  • Actions to take when a casualty is suffering from a heart attack
