what topics are covered in the training?
This 2-day course is designed to refresh current first aid at work certificate holders and covers all aspects of the first aid at work course. (Please note to attend this course delegates will need to produce evidence they have a current first aid at work certificate, original or photocopy or a confirmation letter of attendance from the previous certifying organisation)
This course can be taken up to 3 months before the expiry date of their certificate. The new certificate will then take effect from the date of expiry. Or up to 28 days after the certificate expiry date.
Once renewed the certificate is valid for a further 3 years.
It includes training in:
- How to act in the event of an emergency
- CPR ( cardio-pulmonary resuscitation )
- Unconscious casualty
- Wounds & bleeding
- Burns & scalds
- Injuries to bones, muscles and joints
- Shock
- Eye injuries
- Poisoning
- Dealing with a casualty overcome by gas and fumes
- Transportation of a casualty
- Recognize major and minor illnesses and take appropriate action
Our students will also gain the ability to maintain simple factual records and provide written information to a doctor or hospital if required and they will also gain knowledge on the importance of:
- Personal hygiene in first aid procedures
- The legal framework of first aid provision at work
- The use of first aid equipment provided in the workplace
- The role of first aiders in emergency procedures
